In the second section of the literature circle, our group had to read chapters 6- 10 of the short bus.
While reading it, the chapter that struck me the most was chapter 7. In that chapter, the author takes about a girl named Ashley, that is blind and deaf. She got this way because her birth mother alcoholic, anorexic. This chapter was interesting to me because in the beginning of the chapter Jon says he doesn't think that Ashley was wrongly accused of being disabled because she cant hear or see. However, by the end of the chapter, Jon realizes that Ashley is in fact is just like everyone else she just uses her other three senses to figure out things. I feel that this little girl inspired Jon to really look at things from every angle because he realized that if he "look" at Ashley from a different way he saw how she truly isn't disabled just different. I also liked what Becky said in the part in the book where Jon is getting really upset and can't understand why Becky wants to marry him. He says that he hopes that they never have children because he desn;t want them to turn up like him. I feel that what Becky says is the sweetest thing and also shows that she truly loves jon. She says "You really need to hear this and really understand this. I hope to God we have a kid just like you."
